What a show, and what energy! This was a wall to wall none stop musical in which, the EMCO cast and all concerned gave their all.
I had not seen this show before but I am very glad I did. It set a benchmark for any other company to match.
The way that Joe was Good and Bad , changing costumes quickly, and at one time behind umbrella’s on stage, was breath taking. Joe was on stage practically all the time and is to be congratulated for the superb way he portrayed the two sides of his character.
Sarah played opposite Joe very well and they were obviously made for each other (being partners in real life can either help or hinder but in this case worked extremely well)
Joe’s Dad played the role most convincingly
A special mention to a man of many parts who played the Shabby Uncle /copper /stall holder and Mr Pressman, just great!
The musical numbers were done so well and in particular “Driving in my Car” complete with car was memorable
There just too many of the cast to mention individually but the efforts of everyone to keep up the pace and deliver such a sparkling show, were greatly appreciated, well done one and all! They must have been exhausted after every performance. The audience certainly were and they were just sitting and watching!
Anthony Lees the MD never let the musicians rest for a second, a great sound, a little loud in places, some dialogue lost, but none the less this did not spoil, in anyway, the enjoyment of this show.
David Youll the Director and Choreographer. Heart felt congratulations, to direct and choreograph could be construed as madness (forgive the pun) but it paid dividends. The direction and the dancing were stunning.
A wonderful show and judging by the audience reaction, a runaway success.
