St Philip`s are to be congratulated on their latest junior show `Our Day Out`. Performing at a new venue which proved to be most welcoming. With a super well designed set and great use of milk crates. Margaret Stansfield led a small but well run orchestra, sound was just right.
Emily Kirwin was very good as Mrs Kay, the teacher of the Progress Class, as she tries to control them on their trip to Wales. Helped by Ryan Pilling ,who was excellent as teacher Mr Briggs. During the show we were treated to the change in him from the bossy teacher to gentle persuader as he talks Carol to safety.
Everyone in this show made an impact. Both singing and acting are all to be commended. Soloists who really stood out were Jessica Barlow as Susan, Holly Trundle playing Linda, and the two bored girls, Eleesha Mayoh- Etchells and Molly Puckering who sang a cracking number `I`m Bored`.
This show by Willy Russell examines the life of young people and depravation of inner city Liverpool. The young actors certainly brought all that was evident with the lack of almost everything. Well done.
Thank you for a great evenings entertainment.
