Our day Out

‘Our Day Out’ by Willy Russell is a simple drama/comedy, full of clever lines, and some good funny moments with the students, on a day trip out and clashing with the Welsh countryside, and a zoo.The acting is ‘uniformly’ good from the young cast, and the direction by Grant Flanagan is highly effective, he used the small stage and audience area, we sometimes thought we were there at the school or even in the bus, great thought put into this Grant. The comedy and drama were well-balanced, great character development in some but lacked in others.  It was a pleasure to watch, and highlights some issues around the neglect of working class kids along the way.  This play was a very good team effort, and shows us how much young talent there is out there, so in that case I will not single out any performance or mention names, but, whether you had one line or lots, they were all heard and delivery was good.  Grant you should be very proud of these young actors and of course they should be thankful to you, as you and the team brought us good entertainment for all be it an hour and 20mins., even though there was no wedding ring on Mrs Kay!!  ‘Ratlets’ keep these Youth productions coming.
