As I walked through the garden of Chiddingstone Castle on a grey Sunday evening I thought to myself 'rain, rain go away'. It did and led to a pleasurable evening with Kentish Opera’s evening of Opera in the Orangery.
A well thought through evening of opera. Narrated throughout by Robyn Sebastian, Kentish Opera’s conductor. Sally Landford as Director and Carol Stevenson as Costume Designer. Put these 3 Ladies together and you have success. Robyn’s orchestra of 6 gave us a very full sound.
The perfect setting of the castle combined with the very varied programme capped by perfect English weather contributed to a perfect evening of opera. Soloists, Katherine Blumenthal,Rebecca Hooper,Steven Brown and Hakan Vramsmo, gave us faultless performances along with the vast chorus of Kentish Opera whose tone enhanced the performances.
A stupendous evening. Thank you Kentish Opera for my invite, always a pleasure to visit you.
