Set in Seefield, Austria, this John Godber comedy introduces us to two British couples on the slops together with a lady travelling without her husband and ski instructor Tony, who says he is the best ski instructor in the area.
Tony, the ski instructor, was played by Paul Atkins, who kept the accent going throughout the production, a credit to him. His scene in the sauna was hilarious. Tony’s pupils at his ski school are Chris and Alison, played by Luke Salaana and Jayne Lunn. They really worked well together. We learnt they had lived together for seven years but had never married. Chris is a DJ on a radio station and does voice overs for PG Tips and falls over a lot on the snow. Tony had a roaming eye and decided he wanted a holiday romance with the single lady in the group, Melissa, played by Keyleigh Alison. But, all she wants is Tony. She is a good skier and she was in Tony’s class with her husband last time they were here on holiday. The other couple on the holiday are Dave and Bev, played by Dan McCloskey and Harriet Gordon. Dave is a complex person and was played superbly by Dan. But is Dave really Kevin or one of the other people he likes to be. Harriet’s Bev was the type of person who had to put up with a lot and gets chest pains when she feels cold, but as they had been together six months now wanted the relationship to work out as she wanted Dan to move in with her after the holiday.
The production was directed by Dexter Whitehead who put together a team who worked well together. I enjoyed the ABBA sequence and how well it fitted. The set was so well put together that you felt you were there. Especially the downhill ski slope. I was sitting on the front row and thought that I was going to have a skier on my lap. A credit to the SAT Set building team.
Congratulations to you all.
