The use of a permanent set, with simple additions to change location from workhouse to Fagin's kitchen to inn to street, ensured scene changes were seamless and did not slow down the brisk pace set by the director and musical director. Glenn Duncan (Oliver) gave a good performance as did Nitai Levi (Artful Dodger). Jamie Shepherd (Fagin) was extremely believable as the elderly lovable rogue. Keirah Kirton (Nancy) gave a powerful performance and her rendition of "As Long As He Needs Me" was spine tingling. Forbes Beedie (Bill Sykes) was suitably brooding and threatening. Hamish Somer's Mr Bumble was pomposity itself until brought to heel by Melisa Bremner's sharp tongued Widow Corney. Strong support was given by Sam Pirie (Mr Sowerberry), Jordan Watson (Mrs Sowerberry), MIrrhyn Stephen (Bet) and Peter Fraser (Mr Brownlow). The ensemble singing and movement were excellent with a particularly rousing "Oom-Pah-Pah". Another excellent show AYMT.
