This was a most entertaining show. Oliver and the Workhouse Boys were the first to appear on stage with 'Food Glorious Food'. Their diction was excellent and their movements were clearly well-rehearsed. Subsequently the standards of the rest of the company were equally high. All the main characters suited their parts admirably. The two boys playing the pivotal roles of Oliver and the Artful Dodger did remarkably well. I also mention Mr Bumble [Pete Merrick], Widow Corney [Kate Fenn], Justin Day as Fagin along with Bill Sykes [Lyndon Warnsby] and Nancy [ Jo Dewberry] for they all were very good. The rest of the members of the cast of adults and children gave excellent support throughout and the dance routines were delightful. Happily, Andy Raine's orchestra provided great accompaniment which was never too loud. The set was a masterpiece of design and the back-stage crew dealt with scene changes very efficiently. The essential lighting and sound effects were in very safe hands and added greatly to the success of this popular musical. I was very impressed with this production. Well done, everyone.
