Oliver

Oliver is one of the all-time favourites and the characters were brought to life with some excellent vocals especially from Nancy played by Leigh Evans, Mr Bumble James Buxton and Widow Corney Lizzie Jordon.  They were well supported by the whole company particularly in the complex market scene "Who Will Buy".  The professional set was good to look at and worked well throughout.  The orchestra at times overpowered both the vocals and dialogue.  This was a production that was well received by the audience of Uppingham and for me an unexpected delight was the playing of the violinist, Liz Taylor particularly during "Reviewing the Situation" from Fagin.
