This Old Tyme Music Hall coincided with the 100th Anniversary of the opening of Ribchester Village Hall and the members of Ribchester Amateur Theatrical Society certainly celebrated in style with a fun filled evening which the capacity audience certainly enjoyed. The audience were greeted by members of the company suitably dressed in period costumes and escorted us to our tables prior to the commencement of the show. Master of ceremonies Steven Johnson gave us a flavour of what we were to expect in the evening. His eloquent and flowery language, in true Music Hall tradition, enabled him to control the pace of the show so important in this particular genre. It was so pleasing to see a mixture of youth and maturity on stage so often missing in many companies today. All involved were enjoying this form of revue, a form of entertainment which would be alien to the younger members, who revelled in the numbers of a bye gone age. Steven Johnson was excellent in his role of M.C. ensuring the audience were involved throughout. Music was provided by Ian Ashworth, a real tour de force this, nearly two hours, non stop. Director Sue Cronshaw and Producer, David Procter have put together an evening to remember and I came away with a smile on my face and a spring in my step, not expected on a cold Winter’s night. Thank you for your very warm welcome. I look forward to your next production.
