A superb evening of nostalgia presented by KODS and THE NONENTITIES was played to an audience of mainly the right age to appreciate the wonderfull songs, comedy, sketches and individual acts of the Victorian/Edwardian eras. The audience joined in the chorus number’s (and some of the solo’s) without using the song sheet as we (includes me) were brought up during the early and mid twentieth century when music hall was still very popular. The show opened with the chorus and audience joining in to sing such immortal songs as “Daisy Daisy” and “Old Bull & Bush” getting the show off to a flying start. The superb Chairman/MC, Stan Barten, and his Glamorous Assistant, Zoe Darks, who also performed a delightful “Marie Lloyd” medley, ensured that the programme sailed along. The first solo “Now I Have to Call Him Father” by Melanie Greenfield, was lovely and very funny.  The Barbershop Quartet was grand and what a pity we don’t hear them nowadays. “My Hero” sung by Claire Hadland was a delight and the first half closed with an excellent “Can-Can”. Act II opened with another audience participation medley and included a superb solo “I Want to Sing in Opera” from the lovely Philippa  Lacey. “The Box” sketch immortalised by Jimmy James was still supremely funny. What Music Hall bill was complete without a Magician and we enjoyed a mind boggling spot by Peter & Simon Cooper. A  Black Country monologue from Daphne Knight brought back memories of a wash tub and mangle wash day (it was Tuesday in our house). A finale of more songs completed the programme and we all had wonderful time. Producer Pat Scully and MD Margaret Rogers who also accompanied the show on the pianoforte plus front of house and backstage operations contributed to A GREAT NIGHT OUT
