Solihull on stage has with Oklahoma chosen a fitting celebration to mark their 60 year anniversary. Well cast and directed with beautiful costumes throughout this very energetic slick performance was undoubtedly enjoyed by all.
Laurey was played confidently by Nicky Ginns and playing opposite Curly, Richard Perks they have an obstacle to overcome before eventually being together. The menacing portrayal of Jud Fry, by Keith Parry added fuel to the good guy bad guy scenario. Laurey’s friend Ado Annie played delightfully by Lyndsey Vickers who falls for a pedlar who is a bit of a ladies man, to say the least! Ali Hakim who was played superbly by Michael Greene .There is also her boyfriend Will Parker , Simon Chinery who’s wonderful voice is for me , always the added bonus to any SOS production .Special mention should also go to Emma Wheeler as Aunt Eller who played the older more mature character very convincingly for her age.
Mel O’Donnell kept the orchestra in check through the many memorable musical numbers as they did not over power the cast .
With some very talented youngsters playing many cameo roles too numerous to mention individually and a cracking supporting chorus the production was of excellent standards throughout , you should all be congratulated on a very entertaining evening.
