This was a lovely start to Christmas as always. The seasonal words and music (and dancing) are always appreciated as are the mulled wine and mince pies. The evening was in six parts and started with Christmas Carols sung by the whole company (including some singers from the Robin Post Singers) and some readings. Christmas Round the World followed - a good selection of international carols and a reading from A Child's Christmas in Wales by Dylan Thomas. Christmas Now and Then was the concluding part of the entertainment before the interval - a good selction of carols from times gone by and some popular Christmas songs from the more modern era. After the refreshments we were then into Seasonal Weather - more lovely singing and a really delightful dance - Suzie Snowflake and then an excerpt from one of Gervase Phinn's books - With Bells On. A Children's Christmas followed including Away in a Manger sung by two of the youngsters - so good to see young people performing - and a Vicarage Christmas by Noel Streatfield was read. Finally it was Oh What a Lovely Christmas - a very fitting tribute to the wartime event which took place on 24th December 1914 with suitable readings and a performance of Silent Night with one verse sung in German. The community carols were much enjoyed by all and the whole evening was expertly chaired by Neil Beck.
