This was something different, we were greeted by the Sisters as we walked into the auditorium. They had to work really hard with the audience as most of them were unaware how much audience participation was involved in this hilarious musical.
The story of Mount St.Helens Convent was that they had poisoned lots of the nuns by accident. Rather than facing up to it, they buried as many as they could but they had “some in the freezer” as they could not afford to bury them. They decided to do a fund raiser in the village hall to pay for the funerals but the set was already set for a production of Grease. All the nuns had their own special talents Katy Pointer even becoming a ventriloquist . The nuns gave us a rollicking opening chorus, each one having their own special spots.
They were excellent in their own characters coping well with their habits which were certainly authentic. Their past experience in other local societies, certainly set them in good stead for this show. Throughout the cast looked as though they were having a ball. Alli Sparrow-Hewitt was in good voice.
The Company had obviously worked very hard – and hopefully they would have had fuller houses for the rest of the run.
