As the title suggests this concert was full of hits from the 50’s to the present. Part One started with a dance melody followed by ‘Great Balls of Fire’, ‘Jail House Rock’ and the famous Elvis song ‘Blue Suede Shoes’, it brought back memories of ‘Teddy Boy’s’ and going to the local Saturday night dances, it was refreshing with lots of enthusiasm from all the cast.
The 60’s made their mark with some good singing, I really enjoyed this decade. The 70’s also brought back lots of memories. Again some good vocals and choreography but my favourite decade was the 80’s with a stunning rendition by Ailsa McIntosh of the Whitney Houston fab hit song ‘I Will Always Love You’, the audience were enthralled with this rendition. The finale to Part One was Abba’s great hit ‘Supertrooper’, how well everyone on stage performed.
Part Two opened with the 90’s, we had some fine singing by company members, they could demonstrate their talents to a very appreciative audience, the society had obviously worked very hard, what a cavalcade of songs.
The Finale was excellent with soloists, duettists and some memorable performances. Overall, this was a well staged concert with good lighting variations and changes of costumes. NOW THAT’S WHAT WE CALL MUSIC!
Thank you.
