~~This 1970`s farce is the longest running comedy in the UK`s theatrical history. With over 6000 performances in the West End, it certainly has paid off for the Marlowes, with full houses for all the run, with extra seating put in place, great to see.
Very well directed by Janet Townes and Niamh Mourton, the play moved along at a pace throughout, with every ounce of humour being extracted by an excellent cast. Stuart Mourton as Peter, Niamh Mourton as Frances, and Rick Law as Brian, all gave superb performances in a scenario that revolves around the delivery of various packages from Sweden, `say no more`. Making full use of seven entrances to the stage, the cast had the audience with them all the way. Rick was absolutely hilarious as the hapless Brian. What sanity there was came with the performance of Andrea White as the snobbish upper class mother who came to stay. Solid back-up from Mike Asprey as Mr Bromhead and Paul Makinson as Mr Needham, with a special nod to Mark Pardner who played the Superintendent at very short notice. A comical cameo by Linda Cheshire as the leather clad police stripper, assisted by Suzi Ilston as Barbara, completed a classy cast.
A very well designed set, good sound and effects completed a laughter filled evening.
