~~This was a compilation of items with New York connections taken from various popular Musicals. No set or costumes were used so it did rely on the ability of the cast to portray those many moments from the shows and this they certainly did. The standard was set by the opening number, America, performed so very well by the female ensemble and it was maintained throughout the evening. The depth of talent in the company was demonstrated by the significant number of members taking on individual roles, quite apart from the small and large ensemble numbers, and all to a good standard. While it is not possible to name all the individuals Claire Rybicki and Jodie Cresdee both provided super performances, nice examples of acting with the face as well as the body and being involved with the action whenever they were on stage. On the male side Rob Charles gave a fine performance while Paul Gardner and Kevin Chatten led by example in two excellent full ensemble numbers. The whole performance was well prepared and well presented, the musical side very well handled with nice arrangements, and the choreography and dance a joy to behold. The chorus provided full support at all times with nice harmonies where required and although outnumbered the male chorus certainly made themselves heard. The informal “costumes” were fine and the lighting used well. A very entertaining evening enjoyed by the full house on the night.
