Written by Eric Chappell, the well-known author of TV's Rising Damp, this comedy encompasses a strange sense of humour since it dwells almost totally on the subject of death. The set of Walter Bryce's study/library was delightful with great attention to details. I was particularly impressed with a pair of fine firedogs and the shelves full of books. Walter's wife, Celia, has stated that she wants to die and a representative of Exodus has been summoned to assist her. At the same time a chap from Samaritans has been sent for to try to talk her out of it. Walter's secretary, Angie, adds yet more intrigue to the plot. Naturally the misunderstandings and mistaken identities just add to the humour. All the characters were well defined. The costumes were suitable and the lighting and other effects were fine. It was amusing to watch a rubber plant gradually wilting away due to having poisoned drinks poured on its roots. It was a shame quite a lot of prompts were needed, but the witticisms still came thick and fast and were much appreciated by the audience. Great fun.
