The flimsy storyline is of a Coventry school`s Nativity Play hopefully being turned into a Hollywood movie, so it relies on impact from the start, and this production certainly had that. The company shone with energetic enthusiasm, with good dance routines abounding, using the 34 strong cast to the full.
It would be unfair to pick out individual performances, but I must mention outstanding portrayals by Drew Boswell as Mr Maddens and a storming performance by Louis Dexter as the loopy Mr Poppy, both on top of their form, with an excellent disciplined display by Ruby Garrison as the Head Teacher, Mrs Bevan.
A good set met all the requirements, as did wardrobe and props. The compact group of musicians brought the musical score to life, albeit occasionally overpoweringthe vocals.
All in all, yet again Zak, George and Vicky have created an excellent youth production.
