Musicals from A to Z

~~These evenings when the company showcases numbers from a range of different productions are really enjoyable. The standard overall was very good both from the individuals, chorus and the younger members; both in their dancing and the gymnastic displays. This ensures that there is something to suit everyone. The planning and thus the naming of the overall production was clever with the shows following the alphabet thus the evening was called Musicals from A to Z.

I found it very difficult to pick out individuals or groups as the overall standard was first class. From the experience of Alan Backhouse in his 50th show for FMS and Graeme Clements right down to the youngest member of the children’s groups I found it hard to find fault. I did like the two groups though, the ladies Sarah Tully, Jennie Sharland, Sophie Woodward and Kelly Scourland and the men Dan Coghlan, Stuart Frank, Robbie MacNab, Matt Swann and Gareth Billington. Both their harmonies and individual solos were of a very high standard. I also liked the solos of Marie Ridley, Hannah Edwins, Roger Trencher and Jonathan Redwood.

It isn’t easy to provide continuity as many of the cast had quite a number of costume changes and it takes a great deal of skill and coordination to enable the overall evening to run smoothly. This came mainly from the production team of Director, Graeme Clements; Musical Director, Valerie Tucker and Choreographers, Beth Marshall, Natalie Cleave and Matt Swann. These together with the back stage, front of house staff and small but very well balanced orchestral group made it a thoroughly enjoyable time for all.
