" Musicality " ... An evening of musical variety ... Well, Tingdene Entertainers certainly delivered an abundance of musical variety ! The programme contained a wonderful mix of some of the best loved musicals of all time, thus treating the audience to a delightful evenings entertainment.
Director Becky Hawksbee has done an excellent job with the staging of all the musical numbers, bringing out the best in all the performers. The show had a good pace and each number flowed with ease into the next. There was some very good choreography too, giving us a " feel " for the musical being portrayed. Well done Becky !
Anita Walker's talent as a musical director also brought out the best in each member of the company, the standard and quality of all the singing was high. The orchestra, comprising of Anita Walker, Barbara Hockey and Brendan Rayner, gave excellent backing to each soloist and all the company numbers.
Throughout the evening there were some very good solo performances, and quality full company numbers. The show opened well with Keith Maddern singing "Wilkommen" from Cabaret; Keith has excellent stage presence and a great deal of charisma, he performed several numbers during the evening and I enjoyed watching him very much.
Other notable performances came from Heather who sang "Don't Cry for me Argentina" from Evita, Jenny who gave us "Wishing You were Somehow Here Again" from Phantom of the Opera and David singing "Mr Bojangles" from Fosse. My favorite full company numbers were "Seasons of Love" from Rent and "Light at the End of the Tunnel" from Starlight Express, an excellent ending to what was a lovely evening of " Musicality ". Congratulations to each and every member of the company for giving the audience a very special evening.
The costumes throughout the show were very good and enhanced the the production greatly. The stage crew, props, lighting and sound all played their part in making this technically a very good production. Well done to you all.
Thank you Tingdene Entertainers for inviting me to see " Musicality " and for your hospitality to my guest and myself, we both thoroughly enjoyed our evening with you all
