Simon Mostyn played by Simon Raffo, having thrown over his former lover and his new wife's ex best friend, Jacqueline De Severac (Rebecca Coupe) has recently married Kay Ridgeway - a rich woman played by Sue Briggs. The couple are on their honeymoon aboard the paddle steamer "Lotus" on the River Nile. With them is Canon Pennefather (Mark Hague) who just happens to be Kay's guardian and Jacqueline, who has been stalking Simon and Kay during the voyage.
Also on the boat are a rich ill-tempered woman Miss ffoliot-ffoulkes (Gloria Elford-Box) with her niece and compnaion, Christina (Victoria Stewart), a rather direct young man, Smith (George Glasby), a doctor played by Neil Mather, who has a grudge against Kay's father and Louise (Gaynor Robinson), Kay's maid.
During the voyage Jacqueline works herself into a state of hysteria aand shoots Simon, wounding him in the leg. A few moments later Kay is found shot in her cabin.
By the time the boat reaches its destination, Canon Pennefather has laid bare a bold conspiracy and has made sure the criminals shall not go free. The boat's captain, McNaught (Mark Stones), Boat's Steward (Gregg Muscroft) and two Beadsellers (Colin Briggs and Wayne Ripley) completed the cast.
Well done to all the cast and to Tracey Briggs (Producer). The set (the observation saloon aboard the paddle steamer "Lotus") designed by Neil Mather together with excellent properties and costumes were perfect for the period of the play.
Congratulations to Rotherham Phoenix Players who will be performing their 200th production during their coming season.
