Murder at Little Grimley was the second one act play at Sadleir Drama Clubs evening of mayhem and murder.

I always marvel at how Sadleir Drama Group transform the Standon Village Hall into a theatre.

Andy Robinson played Gordon.  Gordon was very much head of the drama company; he was a very domineering character.  Andy gave Gordon a very controlling personality, however at times Andy needed to slow down as it was at times difficult to understand everything that was being said.

I felt for Joyce, the other characters were unkind to her.  Helen Church made sure, us as the audience feel for her with simple facial expressions, and I was pleased to see her get her own back on the group.  Her attempt at remembering a line was very funny.

I really do enjoy a silly comedy role and Matt Rosser played Bernard well.  The humble plastic police helmet was made a comic highlight.

Liz Pickups portrayal of Margaret reminded me of a stereotypical overconfident member of an amateur dramatic society. Liz delivered her lines very clearly and was a good contrast to Gordons character.

Jim Nicolson was very good as Sam, at first, he came across as a serious police officer, if I had been Gordon, I would have been worried.  The change in character when the reveal was made was good, there was a clear distinction.

The set was simple, and it needed to be, I really liked the change of the door, a simple fire exit sign gave the sense of a hall where a group may rehearse.

I really enjoy coming to Sadleir, it has nothing to do with the fish and chips, but I enjoy the community spirit.
