Well, it was the end of civilisation as we know it… There had been an apocalyptic event …Our actors were fearful survivors who were wandering the barren land – wary of strangers – traumatised …. Evolving and tentative engagements with other humans found one thing in common – memories of The Simpsons TV show!
Sharing, and recalling particular episodes developed, and these tentative meetings seeded a new society…. That initially stripped bare innocence was to be gradually eroded by the end of this post-electric play that spanned 80+ years. This was fabulously strange entertainment. It was bizarre, soul searching, with super vocals and fundamentally a very clever story telling by author Anne Washburn. The production was excellent – the ten players performed twenty five characters between them, and to name one as exceptional would be unfair. Everyone on and off the stage was clearly invested and very talented. The props, fabulous masks, fantastic lighting. Everyone on that stage and behind it, gave their absolute best and showed their trust in their director, Elliot Huxtable. He clearly had a vision and had fashioned and trusted his team to deliver. Everyone worked hard – including us.. What a team! What a show!
