The pantomime season started in District 4 with EROS’s production of Stephen Duckham’s version of the traditional “Mother Goose” pantomime by arrangement with NODA Limited. All the traditional characters were there with Robin Wilson playing the lead with the gusto the part requires. Next in importance is Priscilla, the Goose against whose title, no one is named in the programme, although a clue is given in the entry for Nicola Young against whom no part in the show is given – only a cryptic comment that she may be cracking a few “yolks” in the show and be seen “gandering” around the stage! The fun clearly extended to the Programme! Supporting Mother Goose were Andrew Tasker as Jack Goose, Laura Wilson as Jill and Avril McKechnie-Hunt as Billie Goose – all well chosen for the comedy of the evening. The Squire – not the most popular character – was played by the nevertheless charming Frances McNeil (it’s the legs, you know!) and Jane Sinclair was duly booed off the stage as Griselda, Demon of Darkness. Joy Stubbs balanced evil with good as Fairy Sunlight and Ann Rodger was suitably imperious as the Queen of Gooseland and so all ended happily. The cast included the remaining principals and the Ganderville Children who surpassed the Ganderville Adults (at least in numbers). Compliments are due to the production team for putting together a grand show, Lynne making her first appearance as MD for EROS and Andrew his first appearance as Director for the Society.
