The performances were wonderful – I had a great time; so like Virtue and Vanity, this report is in rhyme. It really was a pleasure, this panto to review; when the goodies were cheered and the baddies we’d boo. Mother Goose by Jonathan Groves was great in the part; he played ugly and old - he did that - very smart. Alexei Hawkey played her son named Billy; talented, funny and cleverly silly. His sister Jill played by Sophie Shepherd; for her singing and acting an accolade should be peppered. Luke Palmer played her boyfriend – his name was Jack; his acting ability for nothing could lack. Sydney Snide was the Squire and wealth was his need; John Carroll, the sleaze, was convincing indeed. Bodjit and Snatchit were two short of a shilling; their crazy performances deserved equal billing. Mark and Ruth Roberts played these two daft roles; talented and funny were these amusing souls. Virtue and Vanity were the two opposing sprites; we really did enjoy their fierce verbal fights. Virtue was Kelly Manchée, Virtue – Charlotte Grimes; just the right people for these pantomimes. Candy the goose was played by Janet Webb; an amazingly large costume - her efforts did not ebb. The dancers and children were all great as chorus; lots of movement and dancing and all done for us. They smiled and took notice of all that took place; the singing was excellent, the dancers had grace. To the director, choreographer and musical director; you were all excelling in your chosen sector. The band must also be thanked for their sound; and all of the audience would agree, I’ll be bound. Three cheers for panto – celebrate with a beer; I hope you’ll invite NODA to review you next year.
