I think that the nice thing about PBDS is that they take their pantomimes seriously. Every detail is well thought out and the whole production is of an excellent standard.

The show opened with a lovely young chorus who set the scene for the rest of the pantomime. A very relaxed Gertrude Goose (Peter Buller) and her talented younger son Billy (Jaxom Smith) provided us with lots of amusing jokes (I wish I could remember them) and they gave the audience plenty of opportunities to have a good shout. The dashing Jack Goose (Brenna Smith) and his sweetheart Jill Skinflint (Connie Richards) were a well matched pair and sang delightfully. There was more humour from Squire Skinflint (Iain Johnson) and his two henchmen played by Nevin Ward and Darryl Hall. A lovely Priscilla Goose (Heather Appleton) brought riches for the Goose family but vanity got the better of Gertrude and Priscilla is whisked away to a planet far, far away by the wicked fairy Demonica (Rachel Joynson). Fortunately her sister the good fairy Angelica (Jo Jefferson) saves the day and everyone lives happily ever after.

This was an excellent well rehearsed cast who got all they could out of the comedy scenes and songs. I'm still trying to work out the pound joke between the Squire and his henchmen.

Once again special mention must go to the costumes. Everyone looked super in their outfits and great attention had gone into details and accessories. It was just a shame that we saw so little of the finale costumes as they were beautiful. A simple, well designed set worked well with speedy scene changes and sound effects and music were excellent throughout.

A well polished performance by a talented group of people, well done.
