~~Written by Peter Wilman this tale was staged by the very capable Sutton Arts. Even though on the evening I attended it was not a sell out, the audience wanted to be entertained, and entertained they were. David Thane as Mother Goose led the company well. He played the role well and ensured that the audience were well involved in all the action. Jack (Phoebe Jackson) and Jill (Kate Lowe) supported well, as did Phoebe Hooper as the Princess of Light. Her opponent the Prince of Darkness played by Joseph Hicklin had the audience booing along. I did feel sorry for Joseph Flanagan as Priscilla. He must have been hot in that costume. Libby Allport as The Queen of Frazonia sang well. Gary Pritchard as Squire Creep played a solid character in the production. Not only did they direct the panto by Dexter and Emily took lead roles in it as well. The characterisation was good but as a Dudley ‘lad’ myself Emily’s accent was sometimes a bit questionable.
The set was well done and the costumes looked good.
I really enjoyed the cast flying over the audience in a hot air balloon. A nice touch.
