The stage was open when we went in - we could see a black star cloth and a purple music stand. The tables were set out cabaret style with all the chairs able to face the stage. The idea of the cabaret was to allow the cast to sing and perform songs they would usually be considered "wrong " for - either age, gender, race etc...

The concert started with a solid performance of "When I Grow Up" by the Adult Company, there were some strong harmonies coming through, sound was good on the body mics, there was a good balance between the vocals and the music. Darcey McCoy and George Denson shared introduction privileges and their genuine love and respect for each performer was evident. Evie McCoy took it to another level with her performance of "You'll Be Back", she engaged the audience, she completely played the character in her song, she was cheeky, confident, vibrant and very watchable. Her notes landed on point and her timing was excellent. Caroline Simister's rendition of "With You" was so touching, I will admit it brought a tear to my eye but on a very picky note just watch the light and shade in the song, feel it and let it take over instead of producing it. George Denson gave a masterclass in how to deliver a song, his performance of "The Wizard And I" was worthy of a West End stage, his notes placements and sustainability were excellent, he took the audience on a journey, he portrayed his excitement and fear within the song. He has definite stage presence and he engaged the audience. He is at home on the stage singing, his love for the well deserved applause at the end was evident as he graciously thanked his audience - job well done, George!

The Adult Company started act two with a heart wrenching a capella opening of "Bui Doi" it was fierce, passionate and it had attack, the notes were strong and all landed well. Well done.  There were various solos performed by other members of the company but another standout, from George again was "She Used To Be Mine" , he sang with such passion and rawness, he bared his soul - a fierce performance. The concert was brought to a close by everyone on stage performing "Out Of The Darkness", it was fantastic to see you all back performing again, thank you for inviting me, I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
