As always with Soberton Players I was given a very warm welcome by Caroline Barfoot and her team. After the obligatory raffle purchase I took my seat and settled in for a good evening's entertainment. Men's Shed is set in a local "Men's Shed" and takes a look at the different challenges that each member of the shed go through. The main plot line is how a woman wants to join the Men's Shed and the trials and tribulations that followed!  Men's Shed was very well written by local playwright Janette Evans who was inspired by the Men's Shed based at the Local Titchfield Festival Theatre. I was in the original cast at its debut last March (along with four others in the cast tonight)

We were greeted by a well laid out and busy set, the set team under Susan Hyland utilising the small village hall stage that they use well. The stage was lit well and the sound delivered at just the right level, we could hear well without being overpowered (or deafened). Well done to Samantha Holden and Richard Garland.

The cast, led well by Geoff Rose, Roger Minors and Chris Mortimer were very ably backed up by Chris Mortimer, Jeremy Miles and Dave West as Pete, who was always hilariously appearing from behind the computer on the desk, like Jaws from the water! The gentlemen though interacted very well with the ladies' cast, Cha Roisin as the protagonist Kia (Pete's SPAT - Significant Person At This Time) was backed well by Susan Hyland, Nikki Dry, Sharon Canning, Shirley Tebby, Katie Flanagan and Zoe Phillips as the members of the Local WI who come to the guys' help. The diction throughout was of a very good quality, all the words were delivered at a good pace and clearly. We could easily follow the story well.

This was a very creditable performance and delivery from the cast and with a good set, good diction and good light and sound. This was a show that all of the audience thoroughly enjoyed, as did I. Bravo Soberton, very well done.
