Whenever I see this musical I leave the theatre with a smile on my face as it is such a feel good show. Every song is a winner and the script is strewn with corny jokes that are still funny no matter how many times you hear them. The cast members under the direction of Alf Rai extracted more humour from the show than I have ever seen before. The singing was strong throughout both by principals and chorus and the choreography was slick and fast paced. Well done to the production team for this and you should be justifiably proud of the outcome.

Will Phipps (Bill) showed what an all round performer he is and what energy he has got. He danced, sang and acted his way through this part as though it had been written for him. His pairing with Rosie Rachel Harper (Sally) was a delight as she tugged at our heartstrings whilst struggling with her feelings for Bill. Another well matched pairing was that of Daniel Haddon (Gerald) and Rachel Coleman (Jacqueline). Their characters provided us with plenty of laughs along the way and they also showed what good singing voices they have. Jenni Rullan (Duchess) and Roger Stokes (Sir John) complemented each other perfectly and how they managed to keep a straight face with all that was going on around them was a testament to their stage skills. Alf Rai (Parchester) gave an impeccable performance and created many laughs particularly in the scenes with Bill and Sir John. Matt Cullis (Charles) was impressive as he tried to maintain some sort of sanity in the Hareford household.

The costumes were colourful and there was a good set well managed by the stage manager and crew. The whole production was well lit and the sound was such that there was a perfect balance between the excellent orchestra and singers. Well done to all involved!
