Me & My Girl is a musical filled with memorable numbers and is a fast paced happy go lucky story. Langholm once again have fulfilled their potential and performed a show that had the audience nearly singing along and tapping their feet in time. This show is an adaptation by Stephen Fry of the original set in the late 1930s about a cockney lad who inherits the title Earl of Hareford. He is initially frowned upon as "common" but through his own personality and a little training takes on the role of Earl in his stride. However he also does not forget his Cockney roots and eventually he and Sally his original love are reunited and live happily ever after.

It is good to see that this Company perform their shows to a high degree and in this show they had some fresh faces in the lead roles which can only benefit the Society in the long run. They have shown huge talent and it is hoped they will keep up the traditions of LAODS. In addition it is also great that some of the more mature members are still performing too even with a broken ankle!!. The backstage team also kept the show moving with their slick scene changes.

The whole of the cast performed their roles with aplomb and I was impressed by the coreography and the musical interpretations in the ensemble numbers. The principals were all as usual excellent  and It is good to see some rotation of leads. Everyone was cast superbly and fitted into their roles excellently. I thought Nicole and Alan Weatherstone played their roles as the executors with typical upper crustness, and Glen Cavers as Gerald was suitably silly.  The pairing of Rebecca Jackson and Simon Gant as Sally Smith and Bill Snibson was superb. Their singing was very good and supported each other in their duets admirably. Simon is another find for this company and I hope he will play with them again. His comic timing was spot on and he can dance too!

Thank you once again Langholm for a wonderful show.
