This is one of my favorite shows and this society put on a super nights entertainment.
Every principal was well cast, not a weak link anywhere.Bill and Sally acted by Anthony Brookes and Louise Davenport made a well matched couple. Singing, dancing and acting were of the highest standard. I thought `Once You Lose Your Heart` sung by Sally was stunning as was Bill`s `Leaning on the Lamppost`; both were sung with great feeling.
Maria, Duchess of Dene ( Terri Harper) and Sir John Tremaine( Dean Richardson) made a lovely couple, as did Lord and Lady Battersby played by Mike Thomas and Heather Ogden. The Hon. Gerald Bolingbroke (Joseph Gough) and Lady Jaqueline Carstone (Vicky Muir) worked well together as they, with the rest of the cast gave us many a smile. Well Done.
One principal deserving of plaudits was Zack Thornley who gave a strong performance as the Family Solicitor.
I must congratulate the small orchestra as I was told one of the two keyboard players was taken ill that day. They covered his absence really well. Best wishes for his recovery.
I always worry about the sound when I am invited to shows.I needed no worries with the sound here. It was very good. Lighting and set design were good as were the lovely costumes. Changes from one scene to another were fast and smooth.
Over the years I have been delighted to see the young actors in the Junior section take principal roles in the seniors. My congratulations to Louise, Zack and those in the chorus. It has been a joy to see how you have grown into such actors.
Thank you for a lovely evening.
