This group of talented youngsters attacked this well known musical comedy with gusto from the off with a bright and breezy “A Weekend in Hareford” from the company. Sam Garioch (Bill Snibson) made an excellent cheeky chappy cockney and was well matched by Megan MacKenzie (Sally Smith) as his girl friend. Her rendition of “ Once You Lose Your Heart” really did tug at the heart strings. Danielle Henderson (Maria, Duchess of Dene) had a truly aristocratic, and autocratic, bearing and Finlay McRobert (Sir John Tremayne) was a great foil to her, playing her at her own game and winning in the end. Jasmine Yule (Lady Jacqueline Carstone) and Sam Pirie (The Hon Gerald Bolinbroke) were also excellent in their roles as the upper-crust hangers-on. Ewan Shand (a delightfully camp Herbert Parchester) had the audience in gales of laughter with his “The Family Solicitor”. Strong support was given by Joel Robertson (Charles the Butler), Robbie Scott (Lord Battersby), Lois Adamson (Lady Battersby) and Tom Summers (Sir Jasper Tring). Company singing and dancing were top –class. I was particularly impressed with the whole company’s tap routine in “The Sun Has Got His Hat On” opening to Act 2. Cast, Production Team and Crew take a well deserved bow for another superb production.
