Nobody left the Forum without a smile on their face because they had just witnessed an excellent show. The star of the show was James Potter who played ‘Bill Snibson’ completely in the mould of Gary Wilmot. He really was outstanding; a laugh every time he spoke. His Cockney girlfriend ‘Sally Smith’ was excellently played by Hannah Miles. There were many excellent performances including Dan Brookes as the ‘Hon. Gerald Bolingbroke’ along with his fiancé in the show ‘Jacqueline Carstone’ played by Anthea Richardson. Janet Miles played the ‘Duchess of Dere’ and James Cornick played her suitor ‘Sir John Tremayne’.

David Ferry played his best role yet as the household’s solicitor ‘Herbert Parchester’. Andrew Donnelly took on the role of the butler ‘Charles’ very well indeed. The comedy really flowed thanks to James, particularly in the library scene. The comedy sequences were equally matched by all the well known songs, particularly the finale of Act 1, ‘The Lambeth Walk’ performed by the Aristocrats, the Pearlies and the Cockneys, as the chorus mingled with the audience.

Alan Owens and his small orchestra all helped in making this show the success it was, but all the credit must go to Richard Bainbridge, the director. Well done Northallerton. It was great.
