When one gets an invitation to a St Paul's performance you know you are going to be treated well and Smugglers didn’t disappoint. Busy Bee scripts are always good to produce especially their comedy ones, and St Paul’s you did this ‘Mayhem on Smuggler's Pier‘ justice.

The Pettigrew Players are assembled for their yearly summer show on Smuggler's Pier, but just as they start their rehearsals, financier Cornelius Van De Vellt announces that he has purchased the theatre and pier and is closing them down. With all the players depending on the success of the show, there are plenty of suspects when Van De Vellt is found murdered. Will Inspector Bacchus solve the case?

Emma Everitt’s direction of her cast of about 17 was truly expertly done, she moulded them into good characterisations, right down to the smallest parts. Props and Drops: Steve Manning, Andy Sopper and Jon Selmes were top-notch, well-done guys. I would like to give each of the players in this production credit, but it would take me a week and several pages, so I won’t begin to try, as you were all perfect in your characterisations, whether large or small…..it made it difficult to decide who was the murderer. Lovely idea of the QR code in the programme for us (the audience) to decide who ‘done it’. Needless to say I didn’t get it right.

St Paul’s, you always amaze me how you do all this on such a small stage. I admire your efforts every time I visit. Keep up the good work keeping community theatre alive in the Medway area.Thank you…..for inviting me to an evening of perfect fun and mayhem.
