Spa Theatre Company performed  Matilda, the story of a girl who dreams of a better life Matilda. Matilda has special powers and no loved by her parents. She starts School which isn't much better, but together with a her newfound magical abilities and the kind Miss Honey, they work together with the children and are able to choose the grown ups a lesson.

Spa Theatre Company had two teams for this production, the Maggots and the Worms. This afternoon's performance was team Worms (in order to protect some of the younger cast. This review will only use the character names) .

The principal cast consisted of Matilda, which was excellently played with great characterization and vocal ability shown and had a great stage presence. Miss Honey showed the kind hearted teacher and was vocally impressive.

Miss Trunchbull was a strong character performance and showed great talent throughout.  The smaller roles of Mrs. Phelps, Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood, Michael and Rudolpho were well played with some great characterisation in their roles. The Escapologist and Acrobat choreography was very well done and performed.

The children of Matilda’s cast round up the principle cast and together with the ensembled were enjoyable to watch although some musical numbers were difficult to hear.

The cast did very well and looked to be enjoying the performance.
