With the rousing opening of “You Can’t Stop the Beat”, SPADS concert proved to be one of the most entertaining I have been to in a very long time. With a blend of familiar and less familiar songs, sketches, directed by Alan Reilly and great choreography I had a really good time.

The additional predictable jokes and the excellent audience participation made for a fun evening.

It is always difficult with concerts, to highlight particular vocalists, as a proficient musical director will select numbers that focus on individual’s strengths. This was ably demonstrated with Sarah Freer’s rendition of Skyfall. The vocals were superb and could not be faulted.

The staging was simple and the sound good, and the excellent choice of music transported us through the movies with music from James Bond through to Mamma Mia and Flashdance. Oh and how could I not mention three young men and the Abba Mash-up. An element in SPADS’s concerts that has now become some-what of a tradition. The audience loved it!!

Here we had SPADS doing what they do best, entertaining with precision and exactness. Congratulations to all concerned - this was an evening to be remembered.

Thank you for your hospitality and I look forward to your next production.
