This was an excellent show from MADS, featuring shows from some of the most iconic composers and collaborators of musical theatre. There were many highlights for me, having performed in or directed many of the shows included.
Rogers & Hammmerstein shows, got the programme off to a flying start. Carousel, South Pacific, and The Sound of Music were featured. There were some lovely solos, duets and ensembles, featuring the adult and the children company. My particular favourite was ‘Dames’, well done to the all the lads.
Kander & Ebb’s Cabaret and Chicago, brought us to the interval. I particularly enjoyed Wilkommen, and ‘When your good to Mamma’, well done to Phil and Lynn, but the company played a big part too.
Andrew Lloyd Webber shows featured after the break, Starlight Express sung by Jonathan very well despite his bad leg. The Whistle down the Wind compilation was excellent, and the children really did Rule the World, well done to them. Phantom and Evita completed this section, congratulations to the company for these, particularly my old pal Michael, and Lucy for ‘Argentina’, and Oh’ What a Circus.
This terrific show was concluded with some Cole Porter and George Gershwin a ‘showstoppers’, again with solos and ensembles from the company, and concluding with a full company finale, with the title song from ‘Anything Goes’
The Musical combo performed well under Anthea, Lighting and sound were very good. I really have no negatives to comment all, so Congratulations will have to suffice. A very big ‘Well Done’, to everone involved.
