It seems ironic that on the same afternoon I went to see “Love and Courage“ at the Avenue Theatre Sittingbourne, I visited the Tower of London to see the Poppies. This concept piece of theatre of WW1 memorabilia written by Maria Clark one of the members of the society I believe. I'm sorry I can't name anyone else in this review as I wasn't given a programme so I will do a broad cover.
Love and Courage reminded me,and was much like "Oh what a Loverly War" happy and sad times (mainly sad). It was a narrated piece and this worked well bringing in songs and scenes from the period. The scenes and songs were ably performed by the cast of about 12 to 15 older and younger members.Costumes were mostly of the period (except 2 pairs of modern day glasses ) which could have be avoided and one pair of stiletto heels, sorry it's two little things that a notice.Avenue theatre Productions you should be very proud of this very well constructed piece of theatre, well narrated, well performed, which myself my guest and the rest of the audience thoroughly enjoyed. It was nice to see an original piece of theatre....well done.
