It was a pleasure to stand in for Craig Inglis and attend this great concert by Paisley Operatic and Dramatic Society.  Celebrating 40 years of The Wynd Counselling and Conference Centre who provide such an important role in the community, the concert took us on a targeted musical journey.  The music chosen formed a well-constructed programme reflecting a range of emotions and thoughts that touch the everyday lives of people.  Broken into three short acts, the performances took us through the thoughts of friendship, love and determination.  The entire company displayed an excellent balance of vocal ability with many strong performances.  There was a wide range of excellent solos, duets, and small ensemble pieces as well as full company pieces.  Using the themes of Friendship, Love and Determination, we were transported through time from remembering some great moments from the more traditional musicals such as The Sound of Music and Carousel to the newer musicals we are enjoying such as Waitress.  We were also treated to a few ballads, and I think it is fair to say that the programme included something for everyone.    Vocal harmonies were strong and under the direction of James O’Neil created an excellent balanced sound.  The venue lent itself well to the concert and with the addition of sound and lighting by Pentagon Event Solutions, the audience enjoyed a great night out.  I would like to thank PMOS for making me so welcome and for their kind hospitality.
