Little Shop of Horrors

As the Director said in the programme notes"a fascinating and enjoyable challenge for his first foray into Directing and also for the Company".They certainly tackled it with great gusto and enjoyment. A simple manageable set which worked well and was efficiently handled by the stage crew.The 3 girls Crystal (Jessica Ramsay), Ronette (Sian Pearce) and Chiffon (Lisa Ramsay) as the Narrator Trio sang well and held the show together. The main roles of Seymour (Joselyn Cook) and Audrey (Rowena Lloyd) were a good pairing with Seymour giving a very sensitive performance. Mr Mushnik (Colin Smith) gave a rounded and comic performance with The Dentist (Mike Atkinson) providing a comic but violent presentation. The Voice was in the capable hands of Beth Metcalf and the Extras were well played by Dee Dawson and Marie Chapman in various disguises. Music was provided by a very accomplished ensemble but proved to be too loud for such a small auditorium.The plant provided the horror. The cast had good concentration and attack and kept a sell out audience amused for the whole performance.
