This feel good show was well presented by Sutton Coldfield Musical Youth Theatre.
The company, led by Nate Wallace as Seymour and Amelia Waldron as Audrey really enjoyed the production, and it showed. They both acted and sang well. The two leads had good support from James Lannigan as Mushnik and Ben Hayfield as Orin the dentist. I did feel sorry for Ben because as soon as he got on stage his microphone pack failed but like the true professional he is, he carried on, and we heard him sing during the walk down which was well waiting for.
I particularly enjoyed the three singers Chiffon (Sophia Powers), Crystal ( Sienna Renshaw) and Ronnette ( Tamila Gabriel), some of the harmonies were perfect, they sang so well together. The Audrey II plant was a joy to see. Operated by Em Gomm and voiced by Zephan Rowe, these two worked well together.
The set was well lit and the sound near perfect. Plus I could hear all of the numbers word perfect. The chorus gave the principals good support and moved well.
Paul Lumsden, director, should be very proud of his cast and I look forward to seeing future productions.
