Yet another excellent Pantomime by this long outstanding Company. Few Societies seem to be performing Pantos these days but this group go from strength to strength and this their 62nd production was the latest success. Local charities benefit hugely from Kays donations and also bursaries are made to young people who are unable to obtain funding from any other source. Familiar faces on stage are loaded with talent and new comers provide continuity for the annual January production. Joint President Pat Milton has been involved in all 62 productions either on stage or off and is as enthusiastic now as he was when he was a founding member.
A strong cast of Principals and chorus enjoyed themselves as much as the audience and the five teams of European award winning Harlequin Senior and Junior Dancers were, as always, fantastic and superbly choreographed and costumed.. The youngest of the dancers, at four years old was a delight and was step perfect. Harlequins were part of team England in the Dance World Cup in Romania earning dozens of medals for England.
All the principals were excellent with vocals and much humour involving the audience with Panto staples like “ he’s behind you” etc. You’ve got the idea! It was a shame that the sheep got lost for a time but all turned out fine in the end – well Pantos do don’t they. A delightful evening all round.
PS. I loved the cow.
