However things take twist... he looks for affairs in the ‘lonely Hearts’ columns of a local paper, the same paper is offering a Caribbean cruise, as a prize, to find the perfect married couple. Anita his wife enters the competition but keeps it from him. A columnist arrives to take photos of the happy couple, Anita is away, and Clive is busy... Entertaining one of his dates. From that point onwards, things get a little complicated, to say the least. The action is fast and furious in this hilarious play.
Avenue Theatre Productions, do great justice to this play by Raymond Hopkins mainly due to the great casting and direction by the director Pat Morton, using every inch of the stage with a very solid set and period props.
I feel its unfair to single out any member of this cast, they worked very well as a team and that came over to the audience. Yes there were a couple of dropped lines here and there but they were taken into the dialogue and formed a couple of laughs… The play zipped along and was hilarious in places, Pat you worked your cast to a good standard in the delivery of good one-liners.
This cast included Pat Best, Andy Wise, Les Roberts, Pat Fitzsimons, Lisa Thornton, Emma Thornton, Gloria Argent, Janine Hall, Brian Thornton, and of course Suzie the Goldfish. This cast gave it their all, and the audience enjoyed every minute of it as I did.
