It was my privilege to pay a first visit to the newest member of the Noda North Region’s District 2 and their performance of Legally Blond.  What a wonderful evening’s entertainment this young and highly talented Group provided to an appreciative audience, with an exuberant and effervescent rendition of Legally Blonde.

Under the direction of the immensely talented young directing duo of Director Christopher Perry and Musical Director Rhys Chambers and with highly imaginative choreography by Barbara Williams-Ridgeon it was a treat to witness the cast of 28 in action and the evening raced by.

Overcoming some initial sound issues the Group got to grips with show and displayed a fine array of singing, acting and dancing ability. From ensemble member to Principals alike they portrayed their roles and not once did they seem ill at ease and come out of character. What I liked more than anything else was the willingness and trust that the Academy had in them to ensure that everyone was able to contribute to the performance.

By the very nature of Musical Theatre there were some performances that were in the spotlight more than others and the Principal line up of seven and the ten Supporting Principals were strong without a weak link and delivered a quality product. There was an obvious camaraderie between them and they worked excellently together.

With youth groups I believe in an “all for one and one for all” policy as it is the development of the Group in the round that is of primary importance and not the individual. I therefore rarely single out individuals particularly in this case with so many being exceptional in this show.  I will therefore confine myself to a wonderful well done to the Principal line up. The talent of all of you is there to see.

Finally congratulations to a super orchestra and all backstage and front of house staff.

I look forward to my next visit
