Three Spires Guildhall performed one of my favourite musicals, Legally Blonde. The Story follows Elle Woods after she breaks up with her boyfriend Warner Huntington III and then follows him to Harvard to study Law as she tries to win him back.
The principal cast consists of Amy Leigh Storer as Elle Woods who played the part full of energy and the perkiness you would hope for and was able maintain the character during the whole performance with an excellent singing voice, Amy was fabulous to watch.
Ian Meikle-Walton as Emmett Forrest was strong in both characterisation and singing and had good onstage chemistry with Amy.
Emily Collins as Vivienne Kensington was another excellently played role working well with all those around her.
Daniel Denton-Harris as Warner Huntington III was subtly self-obsessed and showed the necessary charm.
Paulette, Katie O’Brien was excellently played and full of character and had good chemistry with Roya Healey as Kyle B O’Boyle. Katie gave a powerful performance in the number of “Ireland”.
Rachel Curzon as Enid Hoopes was a smaller but effectively played role.
The Greek chorus larger than the usual Trio of Alice Robertson (Serena), Megan Hine (Pilar) and Jessie Paprotny (Margot) all gave strong performances and high energy throughout the show.
Phil Spencer as Professor Callahan was smooth and charming in the role playing the character well.
Anya Brown as Brooke Wyndham was excellent in the role and was able to effectively lead the very energetic and skilful number “Whipped into Shape” .
The remaining chorus took on roles of delta nu’s, court staff, skippers, relatives and shop assistants. They all played their parts, in delivering a performance of high quality.
Not many companies are happy to use live animals. However, this has never stopped Three Spires Guildhall and it was good to see the use of dogs in the roles of Bruiser and Rufus.
The entire cast demonstrated exceptional commitment to their roles, creating a cohesive and energetic ensemble. It was clear that each performer enjoyed their time on stage, contributing to a memorable and engaging performance.
The Sound, Lighting, Costumes and Set were all effectively done. The choreography was full on and each number gave 110%.
An entertaining evening enjoyed by all.
