A trip to Perth Theatre this week and into the world of Elle Woods, all pink, stylish and full of sparkle.

If I may use the title of the opening song… ‘OMIGOD YOU GUYS’… you were on it from curtain up and looked like you were having an absolute ball on that stage, and it reflected in the atmosphere in the audience.

Emma Blackburn stepped into the demanding shoes of ‘Elle Woods’ the bubbly ‘Delta Nu Sorority President’ who ends up at Harvard Law School attempting to win back her boyfriend! Rarely off-stage with a myriad of quick changes to contend with and many songs to sing, Emma appeared to take it all in her stride, making it look so easy. Warner was brought to life by Chris Keatch as the arrogant shallow ex-boyfriend.

Caitlin Todd made for a very believable ‘Vivienne Kensington’ the straight-laced bitchy law student who is dating Elle’s ex, Warner, good character and very watchable.

Bekki MacKenzie was superb as ‘Paulette Buonufonte’ the quirky, dog loving hairdresser with a big heart. Bekki was made for this role, delivering the comedy and emotion of the role with perfect timing, great characterisation and great vocal.

‘Emmett Forrest’ was played by Ross Jack, the smart, charming, quirky law student who is one of the first to befriend Elle at Harvard!  His performance was very confident and he had great stage presence.

Catherine Roberston gave an excellent performance as the ‘exercise queen and workout video star’ ‘Brooke Taylor Wyndham’ on trial for murder.

I also enjoyed the performances of Madelyn Schoonover who played Enid with excellent characterisation, Christie Young who took on the role of ‘Professor Callaghan’ the villainous, conniving law professor, Stewart Forbes as delivery man ‘Kyle’, Fiona Tullo as ‘Chutney’ and a special mention must go to the great vocals of the Delta Nu’s Sisters Kirsty McDonald (Margot), Emily D.Agostino (Serena) and Robyn Yarwood (Pilar) and of course the two furry stars Zoey and Nova.

Favourite numbers were Ireland, So Much Better and Legally Blonde. A great performance attributed to the evident commitment of the cast, the background acting, strong singing and well drilled and inspired choreography. A sterling achievement by the production team and stage management.

Thank you for the invite and hospitality and for a thoroughly enjoyable night. Well Done PAOS
