This Neil Simon comedy takes place on the 23rd floor of a building in New York in 1953.  It is the writing room for one of the most successful programmes on television ‘The Max Prince Show’.  Director Joanne Ellis has put together a fine cast whose American accents do not falter throughout the production.  Costumes were just right for the period and the office set was simple but very well made and effective.  Dexter Whitehead plays Lucas, our narrator throughout the play who introduces us to Milt Fields (Garry Pritchard) with his outstanding wardrobe.  Allan Lane played Kenny who always had a script being read at one of the big studios and was just waiting for his big break, which he finally got.  Ian Cornock played Kenny the suave writer.  Aimee Hall Played Carol, the only female writer.  Tim Hughes as Ira, who was always late, gave a good performance, as did Aimee Horner as Helen, the office secretary.  I particularly enjoyed Dan Payne as Russian writer Val Slotsky and Andrew Tomlinson as Max Prince who was always on the phone to ‘the network’.    This was the last play of Sutton Art’s season and they went out with a bang.
