I thoroughly enjoyed my evening with M.A.D at The Monifieth Theatre for productions of "Last Tango in Little Grimley" and "Murder in Little Grimley". The evening was a delightful blend of wit and humor.

Last Tango moves on the premis that The Little Grimley Amateur Dramatic Society is in trouble. Membership has dwindled to four, the audiences aren't much bigger, and if they don't come up with some rent money soon, they're going to be thrown out "There's only one thing that sells tickets these days," argues chairman Gordon, "Sex!" Thus begins the chaotic and hilarious build-up to an evening of extraordinary home-grown drama.

Act Two brought us to Murder in Little Grimley where anxious to cash in on the public's appetite for detective dramas, the Chairman Gordon writes a whodunnit. But in a bizarre twist he then finds himself embroiled in a real-life murder mystery that threatens to put him behind bars.

Euan Smith as Gordon, the self-appointed leader of the Little Grimley Drama Group cleverly represented Gordon's erratic personality. Ann Sutherland played the put upon Joyce with her dyslexic eye and trouble learning lines precluding her from any real parts, she had some true giggle moments, which she delivered well, along with moments of despair and high drama., Steven Armstrong gave Bernard the right vibe and Rhoda Burke as Margaret, the social climber and star of the society delivered an accomplished performance. Angela Taylor joining as Sam in the second play putting the fear into Gordon masquerading as a policeman.

The cast delivered true to life characters in impeccable performances, great facial characterisation, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats while delivering plenty of laughs along the way.  The witty dialogue and fun plot twists kept the audience engaged throughout, making for an uproarious evening of entertainment. Combined with a static set and subtle lighting it all worked well.

A great evening and lovely hospitality from all at Monifieth Amateur Dramatics.

Well done and thank you for the invite.
