Based on the long running television show this was written by Roy Clarke as a 90 minute stage comedy. It featured the three main characters Compo, Clegg and Foggy and was based in Clegg’s living room.

Compo played with mischief by Martin Walker, Clegg played by Tony Hiley who delivered the gentle sardonic lines with the right amount of anxiety and Foggy pompously played by Colin Reed all succeeded in the difficult task of bringing the television characters to life.

The rest of the cast causing the chaos that started quietly but built up to a frenzy at the end were Nora Batty (Alice Dabrowska) the battleaxe character who of course included the wrinkled stockings, her daughter Constance (Louise Blackburn) was engaged to Gifford Bewmont (John Fisher) for fourteen years. Also in the plot was a Flasher (Sean Hodge)who managed to get stuck in the serving hatch.

The set was well thought out and for a small stage allowed Bewmont to cycle around. The falling shelf and cupboard door also had the audience laughing. Stage and Props (Richard Mitchell, Sean Hodge, Margaret Couch and Rebecca Hodge), Lighting and Sound (CS Technical) and Wardrobe were all authentic to the time.

The innuendos and gags were appreciated by the audience, shown by the laughter . Everyone worked very hard to bring an enjoyable, nostalgic evening’s entertainment.

Congratulations to the Director Judith M Morris

Well done to all concerned.
